Privacy policy
1. Who we are
This website is operated by [Legal entity name] (“we”, “us”). If you have questions about this policy, please contact us.
2. Information you send us
When you use one of our forms (General question, Become a collaborator, Become a supporting partner or Request a pathology) we collect the details you enter, such as your name, email address, role, institution or organization, website and message.
We use this information only to reply to you, review collaboration and partnership requests, and plan new entries.
3. Collaborator accounts
Collaborators invited to work on entries have an account with their name, email address and password. Signing in also requires a one-time code sent by email. We store the drafts, files, comments and revision history that collaborators add while working on an entry.
Public collaborator profiles show only the information entered for that profile, such as name, photo, role, institution, city and portfolio link.
4. Download and print statistics
When an entry PDF is downloaded or printed, we record the entry, the date and time, your browser type and a shortened, partially masked IP address. We use these records only to count downloads and understand which entries are most useful. We do not use them to identify visitors.
5. Cookies
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Essential cookies are used to keep collaborators and administrators signed in and to make downloads work correctly. Some of the third-party services listed below may set their own cookies.
6. Third-party services
To display this website, your browser loads content from these services, which receive your IP address and handle it under their own privacy policies:
- Google Fonts, for the website’s typography.
- cdnjs (Cloudflare), for the library that shows PDF previews.
- OpenStreetMap, for the map of collaborators.
- YouTube, for the introduction video on the About page.
Form notifications are delivered by an email service provider.
7. Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with the people who run the Atlas, such as the project leads and editorial team, and with the service providers that host this website or deliver its email, or when the law requires it.
8. How long we keep information
We keep form submissions for as long as we need them to reply and follow up, and delete them when they are no longer needed. Collaborator account information is kept while the account is active. Download statistics are kept to report how the Atlas is used over time.
9. Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by contacting us.
10. Children
This website is meant for adults, including families and medical providers. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
11. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and two-step sign-in for collaborator accounts. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
